April 2021

Covid Update

Covid continues to have an impact on our lives, including setting BTC’s opening day. At this point we are unable to determine when we can begin playing tennis this season. The Board is in close contact with the Town and will follow their guidance in making this decision. I will keep you updated, and you can also check our *new* website for regular updates: bracebridgetennisclub.com

Website and online application

Great news! We have a new website created by Norma Schuyler and Sandy Bowra.

Part of the website is a new online application. We expect the application will be available mid-May, but this is contingent on when we can safely play tennis and work at the Kerr Park courts is completed. I will let all members know when the application is available. This year we will be accepting payment of membership fees by e-transfer and cheque only.

Many thanks to Sandy and Norma for volunteering their time to update the website and streamline the application process!

Move to Kerr Park

In order to streamline the process during Covid the court refurbishing at Kelvin Grove and Kerr Park will happen concurrently. This means we will begin the 2021 season on the new courts at Kerr Park.

Work will begin mid-April and hopefully be completed by the May long weekend. This timeline is dependent on the weather and Covid restrictions.

There will be no washroom facilities at Kerr Park this season. The Town will install two porta-potties and have committed to cleaning them twice a week during Covid. There is a master plan to build a washroom facility in the future.

An automated external defibrillator (AED) will be installed at Kerr Park.

Change to the schedule – Men’s Advanced

The Men’s Advanced Group will play from 3:00 – 4:30 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 – 7:00 pm will be Club Time and Show Up ‘n Play. The new schedule is attached.
